- Until the early 1900′s Pie was considered a breakfast food.
- In England, Oliver Cromwell banned the eating of pie in 1644, declaring it “a pagan form of pleasure”
- “Wet bottom” molasses pie, Shoo-fly pie, were not originally made to eat. They were used to attract flies from the kitchen. They would stick to the pies
- Early colonists cooked their pies in long narrow pans calling them “coffins” Round pies were not common until the early 1800′s.

Must try this! I thought pumpkin pie was drooooooolingly good lol but anything with bananas is lip smackingly moreish too!

Banana cream pie is also one of my favorites and I see absolutely nothing wrong with thinking of it as a breakfast food!

Banana cream pie or just the banana cream is my favorite pie of them all. I eat it every thanksgiving.
Banana cream pie is one of my favorites, just behind coconut cream and chocolate cream pie. Oh my, I may have to go buy some bananas and make a pie; after all, it’s a celebration! :)
Love bananas … during my radio therapy treatments – I refused to take more medicine then really need and to keep my stomach sweet I ate about 20 banana per day (didn’t work) *smile . Wouldn’t mind a piece of this pie – fantastic photo you have used here.
I love this. This is another thing brought to the former USA territories by Americans. I got the recipes from some of my first US friends.
I’ve never had banana cream pie but it looks superb.
