Foodimentary is an online entity with a web site[1] (now upgraded from an older site[2]) and social media platform focused on building a community devoted to food facts, food knowledge, and daily national food holidays. Foodimentary began as a Twitter account in 2008 and quickly grew to include over 150,000 followers. Foodimentary was the first to use Twitter hash tags such as #dailyquote and #todaynfood.

Foodimentary is the brainchild of Homewood, Alabama, resident John-Bryan Hopkins, who also Tweets as FoodimentaryGuy, among other accounts.

John-Bryan recently won a second consecutive Shorty Award, a recognition of the best in short (140 characters or less) real-time content, in the Food category.[3] The word “foodimentary” became a part of the Urban Dictionary lexicon on July 2, 2009.[4] Foodimentary has been referenced in several online publications, including Philebrity[5], SlashFood[6], and Epicurious[7], and was recently mentioned on the Wendy Williams Show as a useful source of food trivia and culture.
