- 1858 Liberty Hyde Bailey was born. He was a world famous American botanist who studied cultivated plants. He was dean of Horticulture at Cornell University for 15 years.
- 1891 Sir Joseph William Bazalgette died. A British civil engineer, he designed the main sewer system for London. Allowing for running water .
- 1980 McDonald’s test marketed Chicken McNuggets in Knoxville, Tennessee. They are so popular that they have to look for a second supplier.

It’s amazing how interested people are in peanuts and candy for food holidays. I just go with it and celebrate food every day. it took me about 5 years of blogging to just give up the ghost and enjoy.

I was having the same thought as Viveka about the borderline gratuitous peanut holidays ;), especially given they’ve all come within a matter of weeks. Peanut Butter& Jelly, then Peanut Butter, now the Peanut … yeesh! And that’s from someone who loves it all! And I’m not alone, as my peanut butter post was among my most popular, which still continues to amaze me. (No one gave a hoot about the lobster bisque!)
